Oh, the beauty of Italy-where strolling along the streets is practically a national pastime. Lotus MacDowell has captured the essence of this activity in her watercolor painting of a man strolling in the evening. Appropriately titled "Evening Stroll", Lotus paints the soft, fading sunlight reflected against the pale-yellow stucco building; as a lone figure meanders down the street. We see only the back of him, his hands grasped together behind him, enjoying the solitude and the scenery. The black, intricate lanterns of the building hang over him, as if they are standing watch. Far in the background, the foliage of trees and their shadows hint at the last glimpse of sun, while the foreground casts the first shadows of the night.

Framing:
For this original watercolor painting we used a double mat of a rich black linen top mat and a subtle copper metallic liner mat. The frame is a dark brown wood with a repeating raised leaf/pod design, and slightly distressed with a rubbed metallic overlay. This conservation framing includes Museum glass which provides protection against harmful UV rays and minimizes reflections on the image, for a stunning finished product.
